La tarea del creativo publicitario se ha visto afectada en las últimas décadas por las investigaciones que, dentro de los gender studies, han analizado la imagen estereotipada de la mujer en la publicidad. En la primera parte del texto se lleva a cabo una revisión crítica de dichos estudios y también de aquellos que abordan el rol masculino en el discurso publicitario, y se concluye que la mayoría de estudios inciden en la construcción de tipologías de mujer en la publicidad, descuidando la figura masculina y olvidando las pautas de interacción entre ambos sexos.
