The purpose of this research is to advocate for familial history to be used in the special education process for the benefit of the student and the student\u27s family. This research will help teachers, administrators, parents, and even students by teaching how learning differences can be genetic and how this vital information can bring knowledge to families. The researcher conducted an informal literature review in the spring of 2022 regarding genetics in learning disabilities. Research shows that genetics can affect reading, reading comprehension, mathematics, language, spelling, and general educational achievement.
