Sir Allan Napier MacNab (1798-1862) was a Canadian soldier and politician. He served during the War of 1812 and Rebellion of 1837-1838 in Upper Canada. During the rebellion, MacNab commanded the forces on the Niagara frontier and ordered an attack on the American ship the Caroline, which was providing supplies to William Lyon Mackenzie and the rebels on Navy island. An American was killed in the attack and MacNab was indicted for murder in Erie County, N.Y. He was removed from his command in Niagara but received a knighthood in March of 1838 for his work during the rebellion.
