Abstract : This project aims at the simulation, design, fabrication and testing of a microscale shock tube. A step by step procedure has been followed to develop the different components of the microscale shock tube and then combine them together to realize the final device. The document reports on the numerical simulation of flows in a microscale shock tube, the experimental study of gas flow in microchannels, the design, microfabrication, and the test of a microscale shock tube. In the first step, a one-dimensional numerical model for simulation of transport effects at small-scale, appeared in low Reynolds number shock tubes is developed.
