This research based study was peer reviewed and published in the leading film studies journal in Poland. \ud \ud Elia Kazan is seen as a controversial artist; on the one hand he is regarded as a director of masterpieces, but on the other he is remembered as a “friendly witness” in the 1950s when Hollywood was politically infiltrated by the Senator Joseph McCarthy committee.
