Although the Species has been recognized for more than one hundred years, no very closely related forms have been described from its wide range throughout the Neotropical region. There is evidence accumulating, however, to indicate that with future intensified studies on biological and morphological characters the mosquitoes now designated as Anopheles argyritarsis will be classified in a number of valid species
