This paper aims at and analysis of the social housing policy in Chile in the 30's and 40's. This will be done through the study of the "Ley de Fomento de la Edificación Obrera" (Law for the Support of Labor Building) and the "Caja de la Habitación" (Housing found). Stress is put on the aspects that characterized the passing of those laws and part ot the debate on housing in those days is also presented.
