La consumación histórica de lo imposible

The time of the Popular Unity is closed for our present; The political partisanship and the ideologies that led the social conflict and the institutional crisis with bloody denouement belong to a world that ended up being extinguished with the end of the Cold War, more than 30 years ago. However, in Chile, from the Pinochet dictatorship to the current democracy, events do not cease to refer us to the 1973 catastrophe. In this article I propose to understand the historical course that politics has followed in Chile in the last half century, through starting with the collapse of democracy in September 1973. My hypothesis is precisely that the event of this latest catastrophe defines the past-present of Chile.El tiempo de la Unidad Popular está cerrado para nuestro presente; el partidismo político y las ideologías que protagonizaron el conflicto social y la crisis institucional con sangriento desenlace, pertenecen a un mundo que terminó de extinguirse con el fin de la Guerra Fría, hace más de 30 años. Sin embargo, en Chile, desde la dictadura de Pinochet hasta la actual democracia, los acontecimientos no dejan de remitirnos a la catástrofe de 1973. En este artículo propongo comprender el curso histórico que ha seguido la política en Chile en el último medio siglo, a partir del colapso de la democracia en septiembre de 1973. Mi hipótesis es, precisamente, que el acontecimiento de esta última catástrofe define el pasado-presente de Chile
