This paper develops the thesis that after more than two decades since the total breakdown of relations between China and the Soviet Union, in the not too distant future the same two great powers will return to a much less difficult relationship. We argue that their respective visions of their national security have changed in the last twenty years as much as the world has changed between 1960 and 1980.
