Relaciones entre Chile y Japón : un siglo de acercamiento

This work recounts the Japanese modernization process from the 19th century to later detail the close relationship of this nation with Chile. We argue that Japan, in its ancient agony and modernization drama, saw a similar image of itself in Chile. In this case, a young but thriving country that conquered and expanded with just titles. Japan learned about Chile and defined it according to its feelings, as a country led by a strong, sovereign government, which led a fierce and at the same time pious people, with whom it maintained a friendly relationship for more than a century, only interrupted by World War II events.El presente trabajo relata el proceso de modernización japonés a partir del siglo XIX para luego detallar la relación de amistad de esta nación con Chile. Sostenemos que Japón, en su agonía antigua, y drama de modernización, vio en Chile una imagen parecida de sí mismo. En este caso, un país joven pero pujante, que conquistó y se expandió con justos títulos. Supo de Chile y lo definió según sus sentimientos, como un país liderado por un gobierno fuerte, soberano, que conducía a un pueblo aguerrido y a la vez piadoso, con el que mantiene una relación de amistad por más de un siglo, solo interrumpida por los eventos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial para ser retomadas más adelante
