The author analyzes the institutional situation of transparency in the local government in Mexico, particularly the design, scope and restrictions of the right of access to information in its federative entities. To do this, the article examines variables related to the legal status of the guaranteeing bodies, the procedure for requesting information, response times and procedures, coverage in terms of obligated subjects, transparency portals, protection of personal data, among others elements.
