Santiago de Chile: perfil de identidad de la ciudad en altura

A FONDECYT (1993-96) project permitted the semiotic characterisation of a certain architectural profile present in the cities of central Chile in the latter part of the 20th century. Its traits include: a certain disaggregation of semes, a growing diversity in general and the scarce consideration of climatic factors in the modelling of formal features, amongst others. It emerges clearly that there exists a greater communicative effort and a patent autonomy in the higher terminations of buildings, over and above other singular semantic elements, when studied in comparison with Accesses, Corners and Envelopes. This allows new deductions and explorations to be made.Una investigación FONDECYT realizada entre 1993-1996 en conjunto con las profesoras Ana Rugiero y María Inés Arribas, permitió caracterizar semióticamente un cierto perfil de identidad arquitectónica que exhibían a finales del siglo XX las ciudades de la zona central de Chile, entre cuyos rasgos característicos se evidenciaron: cierta desagregación semática, una creciente diversidad en general; y la escasa consideración del clima en la modelación de rasgos formales, entre otros. Quedó de manifiesto una mayor fuerza comunicativa y una autonomía muy patente de los Remates Superiores de edificios, por sobre otros semas singulares, cuando son estudiados en comparación con Accesos, Esquinas y Envolventes.
