Statistical methods for identifying harmful chemicals in a correlated mixture often assume linearity in exposure-response relationships. Nonmonotonic relationships are increasingly recognized (eg, for endocrine-disrupting chemicals); however, the impact of nonmonotonicity on exposure selection has not been evaluated.
