The purpose of this study is to analyze commonhousehold pets as subjects of rights, that is, holders of a specificprotection that guarantees their well-being within family relationshipsas members, due to the bonds and affectivity they have developed.In this context, questions are raised as to the possibility ofapplying, by analogy, the norms of Family Law, specifically withregards to custody, visitation rights and alimony, when there ismarital dissolution. For the development of the research, the theoreticalmethod was used, which consists of a bibliographic reviewand analysis of the country’s legislation
