Tecnologia Assistiva para Pessoas com Deficiência Visual: uma análise da produção tecnológica no Brasil

The absence of vision influences the performance of daily activities such as reading a book, walking on the street or surfing the Internet. To execute such activities, people with visual impairment use Assistive Technologies (AT), which are products, services or environments that has as objective the improvement of functional capabilities and the integration of their users. With the purpose of finding the existent technologies and the growing technological evolution in this area, this study carried out an analyses of the national panorama of innovation of AT for visually impaired people,. The methodology was based on a patents requests research at the National Institute of Industrial Property, using the keywords "assistive technologies", "technical help", "visual impairment", "visually impaired", "blind", "blindness", "low vision" (in Portuguese), during the months of July and August of 2017. The results indicate that the national production of industrial property about AT for people with visual impairment is still limited, with focus on, mainly, mobility, orientation and scholar inclusion; and with concentration of production in the Southeast and South regions. Besides that, it was also observed that the use of the term Assistive Technology is not widespread in Brazil yet.A ausência da visão influencia a realização de atividades diárias como ler um livro, caminhar pela rua ou navegar pela internet. Para executar tais atividades, as pessoas com deficiência visual utilizam Tecnologias Assistivas (TA), que são produtos, serviços ou ambientes que têm como objetivo a melhoria das capacidades funcionais e a integração de seus usuários. Com o propósito de diagnosticar as tecnologias existentes e a crescente evolução tecnológica nessa área, este estudo realizou uma análise do panorama nacional de inovação de TAs para pessoas com deficiência visual. A metodologia baseou-se em um levantamento dos pedidos de patentes ao Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI), utilizando as palavras-chave "tecnologia assistiva", "ajuda técnica", "deficiência visual", "deficiente visual", "deficientes visuais", "cego", "cegueira" e "baixa visão", a pesquisa foi realizada durante os meses de julho e agosto de 2017. Os resultados indicam que a produção nacional de propriedade industrial sobre as TA para pessoas com deficiência visual ainda é limitada, com foco principalmente na mobilidade, orientação e inclusão escolar; e com concentração de geração de inovação nas Regiões Sudeste e Sul. Além disso, observou-se, também, que o uso do termo “tecnologia assistiva” ainda não é disseminado no Brasil
