The aims of this briefing paper are to examine the origins and\ud development of the concept of sustainability, to outline some of the\ud current approaches to sustainability reporting and to offer some\ud reflections on both sustainability and sustainability reporting. The\ud paper draws attention to the contrasting and contested meanings of\ud sustainability, to the theoretical frameworks developed to conceptualise\ud sustainability and to the growing interest in sustainability reporting.
