Under the recently gazetted Soil and Land Conservation Amendment Regulation 1985 (amending the Soil and Land Conservation Act 1945-1982), the land user must submit a "Notice of Intention to Clear Land" form at least 90 days before the clearing starts to the Commissioner of Soil Conservation. The Commissioner then asks either the the local Soil Conservation District Advisory Committee (where there is one and they are prepared to give recommendations) or the local Department of Agriculture office to assess the application.
