PURPOSE: With estimates of the prevalence of dyslexia being as high as 7% of the school-age population, it is imperative that educators and parents have accurate and current knowledge about the nature of reading disabilities and the specific needs of children who have been diagnosed with or who are suspected of having developmental dyslexia. The purpose of this project is to develop a website that will serve as a clearinghouse of information about dyslexia for teachers and parents of early elementary children. PROCEDURES: Guidelines for website content include the sociocultural learning theory of Lev Vygotsky as well as the latest research by neuroscientists on causes and remediation methods for the symptoms of dyslexia.
