Active teaching methods influence of 9-10 grade students physical activity, exercise capacity and approach to physical activity

Research object: physical activity, fitness and attitude to phsyical activity of 9 – 10 grade pupils. Aim: to determine the effect of active teaching methods on pupils’ physical activity, their attitude to physical activity and their fitness. Objectives: 1. To identify and assess the effect of active teaching methods on pupils’ physical activity, 2. To identify and assess the effect of active teaching methods on pupils’ attitude towards physical activity according to gender, 3. To identify and assess the effect of active teaching methods on pupils’ fitness levels according to gender. Conclusions: 1. During the experiment the rates of duration and intensity of physical activity of the subjects (both in control and experiment groups) had a trend of decrease although have not changed significantly. Physical activity during free time reduced more in both control and experiment groups of females more than of males. There was noticed a significant (p0.05) reduction in sedentary time within experiment groups, both male and female. 2. The attitude of the subjects towards physical activity according to the factors interfering doing active sports or exercising had a trend of improvement. The factor “preference to other activity” has varied to a positive side of male of experiment group more than of control group, while the factors as “preference to other activity”, “exercising is too exhausting” of female of experiment group has varied more negatively. 3. There was an improvement in fitness levels in all groups, although a marked impact of active teaching methods on that improvement has not been found
