Evaluation aspects of tourism and sports management studies quality

Work topicality is outlined as the analysis of specialty study courses will first of all allow to understand how the students perceive them, in which manner these subjects are presented, what means are used, and how the lecturer and its personality conditions student’s interest in study topics themselves. Work novelty is defined in the position that as new economical, social and legal grounds are being laid for the new state, and as market relations take over in all spheres of life, including higher education, not all the higher schools pedagogues, administration and scientific employees are able to adapt themselves to the new conditions. Therefore, the necessity to research the factors for specialist development, such as lecturer’s personality and the quality of the studies themselves, arises. Work practical significance: usually studies quality evaluation may provide a possibility to get a broader approach to specialist preparation methods and reveal practical implementation of the preparation. Objective – to analyze studies quality evaluation aspects of third and fourth year students in tourism and sports management specialty. Problem of the analysis – as of today the studies’ quality aspects are underestimated, thus preconditioning the insufficient realization of students’ abilities during the study process. Work tasks: 1. Perform study quality analysis of third year students in tourism and sports management specialty. 2. Perform study quality analysis of fourth year students in tourism and sports management specialty. 3. Perform students’ abilities evaluation. Investigative quota. Third year students (n=40) and fourth year students (n=32) of tourism and sports management specialty at Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education were researched. Research methods: 1. Literary analysis. 2. Questionnaire inquiry. 3. Mathematical statistics. Conclusions: Having analyzed the study evaluation of third and fourth year students in tourism and sports management specialty it can be observed that their attitude is more liberal, not stressing any specific study course presentation aspects, they do not raise high requirements for the lecturers. While evaluating the fourth year students’ attitude towards the study quality it can be observed that these students have a more critical attitude towards lecturing quality; they point out special study courses’ presentation peculiarities, appeal to lecturer’s competence and his/her lecturing manners. This means that they stress the quality of the studies, which is one of the main tasks for preparing a qualified specialist in the university. Questionnaire inquiry regarding students’ ability to master the contents of their study course, their knowledge and peculiarities of skill development revealed that the investigated fourth year students of tourism and sports management specialty course at Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education value the input of their studied subjects towards their education and development much higher. The provided suggestions on the aspect of studies quality improvement are more of episodic type and can not reveal general pattern. Seeking to provide more background for the suggestions, additional researches on improvement of study quality are necessary
