Relation between temporomandibular disorders, forvard head posture and medial longitudinal plantar arch high

Object of study: relation between temporomandibular joint disorders, head posture and medial longitudinal plantar arches high. Hypothesis: we think that there should be correlation between temporomandibular joint disorder, head posture and medial longitudinal plantar arches high. Aim of study: to find correlation between temporomandibular joint disorders, head posture and medial longitudinal plantar arches high. Problem of the study: It is suspected that 50% to 75% of the general population has experienced unilateral temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) on a minimum of 1 occasion and that at least 33% have reported a minimum of 1 continuing persistent symptom (Reneker et al., 2011). Evidence continues to accumulate that untreated diseases of stomatognathic system, in particular temporomandibular disorders and malocclusion, carry a risk of the development of postural disorders (Cuccia & Caradonna, 2009). Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) may lead to adaptations in certain body structures to minimize a patient’s pain or discomfort, and also to reconfigure musculoskeletal stress zones. These adaptations often lead to deviations in normal body posture, which includes forward head posture and changes in the longitudinal plantar arches (Saito et al, 2009). It is important to establish a clear relationship between poorly aligned body posture and the incidence of TMD in order to clarify if the best physical therapy treatment for TMD patients should include body posture realignment. Goals of the study: 1. To evaluate temporomandibular joint function. 2. To evaluate head posture. 3. To evaluate medial longitudinal plantar arch. 4. To determine correlation between measured values. Conclusions: 1. We found following temporomandibular disorder: myofascial pain sindrome with and without limited mandibular opening and disk displacement with or without reduction or limited mandibular opening. 2. Head posture between subjects varied slightly. Significant difference between groups wasn’t found. 3. Medial longitudinal plantar arches high distribution between subjects was similar. Significant difference between groups wasn’t found. 4. Relation was found between neck inclination and cranial rotation backwards, between shoulder girdle and head translation forward and between medial longitudinal plantar arches high and head translation forward. However, a significant relation between temporomandibular joint disorder head posture and medial longitudinal plantar arches high were not observed
