Motivation pecularities of pilgrimage as a kind of tourism

Research object: motivation‘s peculiarities of pilgrimage. Research question: what sort of motives promotes to choose a pilgrimage as a kind of tourism The aim of the study was to assess motivation‘s peculiarities of pilgrimage as a kind of tourism Research tasks: 1. To analyze scientific literature of motivation‘s peculiarities of pilgrimage as a kind of tourism. 2. To assess the connections between demografic characteristics (gender, age) and tourism features in Lithuania and in foreighn countries. 3. To assess the connections between demografic characteristics (gender, age) and trip‘s goals. 4. To analyze the connections between demografic characteristics (gender, age) and choices of pilgrimage as a kind of tourism. Conclusions: the most important trip motives are the expression of gratitute to God. But men also picks up the other motives that is more specific to sightseeing tours, while women are asking God for health. The subjects of all groups distinguished very important pilgrimage motives as the expression of gratitude to God and spiritual renewal. While the group of the younger people segregates familiarity with the culture of other countries, the midlle age people have chosen experience new things and the older ones – intresting leisure time spending. Offers: in order to offer pilgrimage as a product of tourism and attract more people who would pick pilgrimage as a kind of tourism is very important to regard to the things that realy motivates them. The most important factors that motivates the pilgrims should be picked considering that pilgrimage motivation for the choice of the type of tourism is a bit different then the others tourism types.
