When playing basketball, teams most of the time use set offenses, but fast breaks are becoming more important in the end result. Winning teams do more fast breaks and they do them more efficiently compared to losing teams. Research aim. To establish and to compare fast break situational indicators of European Champions and Lithuanian youth men’s national basketball teams. Research methods. Statistical analysis of the official score sheets and game observation. In total 42 2019 FIBA European youth men championship basketball games were analysed. During the observation these indicators were registered: all offensive attacks, fast break attacks, how the fast break started, how the fast break advanced, who finished the fast break, how the fast break was finished and how many players were involved in the fast break. The statistical analyses were performed using Microsoft Excel 2010. Independent samples t-test was used to show the significant differences in means between the teams, with the significance level set at (p < 0.05). Results. Significant differences were found in these indicators (p < 0.05): fast breaks - U20 Champions 15.6 ± 3.7 U20 Lithuania 10.4 ± 3.2; fast breaks after a steal – U16 Champions 61.7% U16 Lithuania 32.0%; fast breaks by inbounding – U16 Lithuania 12.9% U16 Champions 3.2%; 2x1 FB situations - U16 Champions 19.6% U16 Lithuania 9.4%, 4x4 FB’s – U20 Lithuania 17.0% U20 Champions 5.7%; FB’s finished by guards – U20 Champions 78.3% U20 Lithuanians 55.6%; by forwards – U18 Lithuanians 38.5% U18 Champions 16.4%; by centres – U16 Lithuanians 17.3% U16 Champions 2.8%, U18 Champions 35.3% U18 Lithuanians 2.2%, U20 Lithuanians 7.4% U20 Champions 0.0%. Conclusions. U16 teams created the most fast break attacks, but their FB efficiency was the lowest. U18 & U20 Lithuanians had better FB efficiency than the champions due to fewer turnovers and made more two-point shots. Most of the FB’s were finished by guards’ two-point shots in primary break 3x3 or 3x2 situations
