Shooting type differences between winning and losing teams in U12 Lithuanian schoolchildren basketball league

Objective: to determine the impact of different basketball shots for the winning and losing teams in U12 children basketball. Methods: analysis of literature sources, registration of game-related indicators using the special computer software Kinovea (version 0.8.15, https://www.kinovea.org/) and statistical data analysis. Results: the winning teams scored more jumpshots unguarded from zone 1, also scored more shots after two step move in comparison with the defeated teams, 8,7 ± 4,8 and 3,7 ± 2,4 jumpshots, and 4,1 ± 3 and 1,1 ± 1,2 shots after two step move respectively. Also, winning teams scored more field goals in 1-3 quarters than defeated teams, in the first quarter winners averaged 8,2 ± 3, in the second quarter 7,1 ± 2,4, in the third quarter 7,8 ± 2,2 field goals. Losing teams hit 5,7 ± 1,9 shots in the first quarter, 3,9 ± 1,6 shots in the second quarter, 4,2 ± 1,7 shots in the third quarter. Conclusion: 1. Most field goals were made from zone 1 after two step move with opponent defense (when the team's attack zone was divided into 14 shooting zones). 2. Winning teams scored more jumpshots unguarded from the close 2 point zone in comparison with losing teams (p 0,05). 3. Winning team players scored more field goals unguarded after two step move from close 2 point zone in comparison with losing team players (p 0,05). 4. Winning teams scored on average more all types of shots in 1–3 quarters than losers (p 0,05). 5. The winning teams scored more jumpshots and shots after two step move without defensive presence compared to the defeated teams (p < 0,05)
