Problems and Perspectives of Integrated Education of Hearing Impaired Children in Lithuanian Secondary Schools

The object of research – teaching approach to hearing impaired children integrated education problems in Lithuanian secondary schools. The aim of research – to reveal the problems and prospects of integrated education of hearing impaired children in Lithuanian secondary schools. The respondents are teachers of secondary school with experience in educating children with hearing disabilities. The research hypothesis - education of hearing impaired children in Lithuanian secondary schools involves problems and perspectives of integrated education in different levels of education system. The objectives of the research: 1. Identify problems of hearing impaired children integrated education in Lithuanian secondary schools;; 2. Figure out perspectives and problem solutions of integrated education of hearing impaired children in Lithuanian secondary schools. Attitudes towards disabled persons, including deaf persons, are changing in Lithuania. Now, disabled children can be educated as integrated persons at common education institutions or in a special class/group therein. Education possibilities for deaf persons are now higher than ever before. Although parents, teachers and politicians show enthusiasm for such attitude enthusiastically process of education has significant shortcomings. Integration of hearing-impaired children increases in Lithuania, but readiness to it is still insufficient. We can observe not only lack of milieu adapted, support devices, special learning means, specialists and assistants, but also lack of simple information, literature concerning methods, TV programs and other necessary things that would support integration. In a common higher school, mostly a non-specialist must care for disabled child and teach him.
