The influence of water therapy on the psychological and physical health of physically disabled people

The article deals with the area of how water therapy activity effects the psychological and physical state of persons with physical disabilities. The research formulates a hypothesis that the application of water therapy activity can increase psychological and physical health indicators of physically disabled persons. The research was conducted by questionnaire and testing 11 physically disabled persons (2 women and 9 man) and was conducted in Lithuanian’s sport university pool and science laboratory and studies in adapted physical activity during 2012. The age range of the subjects was 18-38 years. Research results revelled that the theoretical presumption was proved. Water therapy activity improved psychological and physical health, was calming, helped to form and improve independent movement in daily living skills and reduced paralysed muscle tone and physical state
