Research object: ecological tourism. Research aim: To identify empirically ecological tourism perspectives of Birštonas region regarding to teoretical aspects of ecological tourism developement. Research objectives: 1. To define conseption of ecological tourism; 2. To research the main ecological tourism principles; 3. To compile methodology for studying the ecological tourism situation in Birštonas region; 4. To research ecological tourism developement possibilities in Birštonas region. By this research we seek to explore ecological tourism developement possibilities in Birštonas region. The analysis of the thesis revealed that Birštonas is a popular place for tourists, tourists who participated in the research claimed visiting it more than once. The interest and the attraction of ecological tourism objects are the main reasons of visiting Birštonas. The work that was made by local institutions implementing the ecological tourism is thought quite negatively. Cognitive paths which are among the most significant in ecological tourism are not known for most of the respondents. The research results shows that not knowing of the paths is resulted by lack of advertisements and links to objects. The lack of advertisements and links to objects are the main reasons liminting Birštonas ecological tourism which is why it is necessary to equip more links to the objects. Moreover, it is necessary to equip more viewpoints, bicycle paths and to offer more orientation programs in order to developing services in Birštonas ecological tourism objects
