Volunteers as a human resource management in non-governmental organizations: sports sector case

Research object - volunteering human resource management. The research problem question – what kind of human resource activities appear in sports sector non-governmental organizations, and how to manage them? The aim of research - to explore volunteering human resource management activities of non-governmental organizations. Objectives of the research: 1. To analyze the human resource management and personnel management main differences. 2. Reveal volunteering and the sport sectors concepts. 3. Analyse the theoretical aspects and create theoretical management model of volunteers as a human resource. 4. Investigate volunteers as a human resource management models applicability in non-governmental sports organizations. Methods of research: • Scientific literature analysis; • Semi-structured interview; • Qualitative content analysis of the concept. Findings 1. Human resource management – broader concept than personal management. Personnel management is practical and instrumental process associated with the administration and policy implementation, and human resource management is the process that covers strategic dimensions and allows to reveal all human resources of organization. 2. Sport is not only important in addressing social inclusion, tolerance, health problems, but also helps to inculcate the most important values of society by promoting volunteerism, active and useful public employment. Sport is very important for the country in economic point of view. Sports sector covers substantially different interrelated activities and services group: from events organized by the club as a way of teaching to events involving professional athletes, from recreational authorization forms, which pursued for pleasure or for a good physical condition, to sports as a means of the difficulties facing groups social integration. Volunteering is very important in sport sector, because it is the key element of the biggest sports events implementation; in non-governmental organizations, volunteering is a major labor force. 3. Based on the analysis of scientific literature the theoretical volunteers as a human resource management model was composed. It involves four stages, each stage consists of a phase-specific steps. The first stage involves an analysis of activities, volunteer database and volunteer scheduling. The second stage involves the recruitment, selection and adaptation. The third stage is a volunteer training, evaluation and recognition. The fourth stage is the recognition of volunteer activities, or refusal, after which the organization decides to extend co-operation with volunteer or to cancel it. 4. The obtained results showed that non-governmental sports organizations can be seen in the theoretical part of activities to analyze similarities. It was found that volunteer human resources, non-governmental sports organizations managed properly and the theoretical model can not be applied. According to the results of theoretical volunteers as a human resource model has been adjusted to be able to apply the sports sector, non-governmental organizations
