Anhörigas upplevelser av vård i livets slut : En systematisk litteraturstudie

Background: Nurses experience lack of cooperation regarding palliative care. The lack of cooperation can create suffering for the patient and relatives. It is perceived as important to communicate and cooperate with relatives, but it is difficult to decide how this should happen, as it can be a fragile time in life. Nurses feel that lack of time creates holes in communication. Patients in palliative care believe that getting time and being listened to is what is important for health and well-being. Aim: To describe relatives experience of palliative care at the end of life. Method: Qualitative approach, systematic literature study with descriptive synthesis according to Evans (2002). Results: After the analysis two themes and four subthemes emerged in which describe relatives' experiences of palliative care at the end of life. Theme 1) Communication, with associated subtheme information and participation. Theme 2) Emotional experiences, with associated subtheme satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Conclution: Relatives experienced that the information affected the experience and that there was a need to be involved in palliative care. Relatives felt that there was a need for community and support for wellbeing. The lack of support created emotions such as insecurity and mistrust.
