The Via Tecta (or the Sacred Way, which is a colonnaded street leading to the sanctuary) with a view of city acropolis in the background at Pergamon. This area down in the valley three kilometers south of the Acropolis of Pergamon is the Sanctuary of Asclepius (also known as the Asclepium) dedicated to Asclepius, god of healing and medicine in ancient Greek religion and mythology.
