Statement of the Problem: The purpose of this project was: (I) To trace the development of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training in the nation, state, and Western Wisconsin vocational district. (II) To determine the need for expanding the educational options for EMT students. (III) To develop a suggested diploma level curriculum for the career-minded EMT student. Procedure Used: Through a review of related literature and from personal experience, the development and history of EMT training is traced from the passage of the Highway Safety Act of 1966 to the present.
