National audienceThis article describes how "controllers" and "controlled people" deal with control activity. Due to the development of new organizational forms, control phenomenon is mostly viewed as a growing issue, which is more and more unavoidable and obtrusive, even if the new organizational forms are said to promote autonomy. Despite this concern, control is scarcely described as a day-to-day activity. Based on a case study of an Insurance Company Department, the daily production of control can be described as a difficult activity which has to exist through taking into account the several constraints of a productive activity.
