The article is a discussion of the livestock revenue for the state of North Dakota. This is the production and sale of livestock and livestock products. In 1983, gross income for the state was $629 million or 21.3% of the total farm revenue of the state. Changes in the production of all cattle, milk cow numbers, in hog production and in the production of chickens and eggs are addressed individually. Until 1978, the majority of North Dakota farms had more than one species of livestock. As time passed, both livestock and crop production have become more specialized and on much larger scales.
