Christian education and beyond : a unit of study with practical applications in the general education classroom : senior honors thesis (HONRS 499)

This creative project is a unit of lesson plans designed for and implemented at my church, Fountain Square United Methodist, in Muncie. Indiana. I started a Sunday school class entitled No Limits on Us" for middle school students. Its existence sprang from the great need to split the elementary age children from the middle school age children so that both groups could team in a developmentally appropriate setting. As a major of Secondary English Education. I wanted to teach the young adults while trying many strategies from my college methods courses before becoming a licensed teacher.This project contains a research component where I analyzed the background of the five middle school students who are regular attendees to this class as well as collected data from a pretest and post-test to measure the attitudes and educational progress of the students. I reflected on effective teaching practices and incorporated different learning styles and intelligences into my planning. I learned immensely through this project.
