This project explores the teaching of poetry through Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. The first section is a review of research that explains Gardner's theory and discusses its relevance to the secondary English classroom. The remaining portion of the project is divided into chapters, with one chapter for each of the seven intelligences. Each of these chapters contains five poems with five corresponding activities that would capture the interest of a student who exhibits that particular intelligence. It is to be hoped that these activities will promote new approaches in the teaching of English so that more students may enjoy and appreciate poetry.Honors CollegeThesis (B.?.
