The arts define what is meant by civilization. They are the foundation and framework of our culture. As a universal language, the arts serve as a channel to understanding and appreciating other cultures. [1] It seems fair to ask, if the arts occupy such a central role in human life, why don't they have a central role in education? Why aren't the things that bring us closest to the core of our cultural experience being taught? In this report, I give an analysis of the state of arts education in this country.
