Issues dealing with animals are commonly overlooked and ignored by the public and by the government. This is why there are so many problems with the animal shelters in this country. This holds true in Muncie, where the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Delaware County was recently investigated for charges of animal cruelty and neglect. In light of this investigation, the SPCA of Delaware County has closed their doors effective May 2003. With no other plans, the county is left without animal control and an animal shelter.
