A SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF MEANING RELATION IN HARRIS JUNG’S SELECTED SONG LYRICS ON SALAM ALAIKUM ALBUM

Song lyrics have diction that contains signs as a medium for conveying meaning to the listener. That is why the song lyrics need to be analyzed and explored further so that the listeners do not mistaken about the meaning of the songs. By using the semiotics theory and qualitative method, the researcher aims to find the literal meanings and the meaning relation in the four Harris Jung’s selected song lyrics. The research objects are the four selected lyrics of Harris Jung’s songs in his album Salam Alaikum, namely Good Life, Let Me Breath, Paradise, and You Are My Life. Based on the researcher’s observations, those Jung’s four songs have signs that need to be analyzed to find the literal meanings. Those songs also have meaning relations to each other which make the analysis more structured. The results show that in each of the four Harris Jung’s selected song lyrics, there are the hidden meanings based on the signs analysis inside.
