Prevalence of psychoactive substance use, young people between 14-21 years old, Bogotá 2017-2018 and its association with socioeconomic factors

La investigación consiste en analizar la información recolectada y sistematizada por la Secretaria Distrital de Salud de Bogotá a través del Subsistema de Vigilancia Epidemiológica para el consumo abusivo de Sustancias Psicoactivas (VESPA) desde el año 2016, con el propósito de determinar la prevalencia de consumo de sustancias psicoactivas, particularmente del basuco, teniendo en cuenta los factores socioeconómicos que influyen para que una persona llegue al consumo recurrente o frecuente (abuso) de la sustancia. El abordaje del estudio es cuantitativo, se realizó por medio de un estudio de corte trasversal, de tipo observacional, descriptivo y confirmatorio. Se implementaron análisis de tipo descriptivo, exploratorio e inferencial como alternativa metodológica que permitiera revisar, analizar y obtener los resultados de la información extraída de la base de datos del VESPA, donde fue posible encontrar todos los consumidores entre 17 y 21 años atendidos por consumo abusivo de SPA entre 2017 y 2019. El estudio constituye un aporte para la salud pública debido a que durante los últimos años en Colombia ha crecido la cifra de consumidores entre los jóvenes generando efectos negativos de salud, teniendo en cuenta que esta situación no discrimina sexo, edad ni estrato socioeconómico, y por el contrario, afecta el entorno social en el que se encuentre una persona, pues contribuye a escenarios de violencia, desempleo y falta de educación. Por lo anterior, vale la pena explorar cuáles condiciones y factores socioeconómicos contribuyen a que se presenten estas problemáticas ya que no hay estudios recientes que muestren una exploración similar y la prevalencia del consumo de SPA en Bogotá.The research consists of analyze the information collected and systematized by the Health Secretary of Bogotá (SDS) through the Epidemiological Surveillance of the abuse of Psychoactive Substances (VESPA) since 2016, with the purpose determine the prevalence of consumption of PSA (Psychoactive substances), particularly basuco, taking into account the socioeconomic factors that influence a person to reach recurrent or frequent consumption (abuse) of the substance. The approach of the study is quantitative, it was carried out through a cross-sectional study, observational, descriptive and confirmatory. Descriptive, exploratory and inferential analyzes were implemented as a methodological alternative that would allow reviewing, analyzing and obtaining the results of the information extracted from the VESPA database, where it was possible to find all consumers between 17 and 21 years old treated for abusive consumption of PSA between 2017 and 2018. The study constitutes a contribution to public health because in recent years in Colombia the number of consumers among young people has grown, generating negative health effects, taking into account that this situation does not discriminate against sex, age or socioeconomic status, and on the contrary, it affects the social environment in which a person finds himself, since it contributes to scenarios of violence, unemployment and lack of education. Due to the above, it is worth exploring which socioeconomic conditions and factors contribute to these problems, since there are no recent studies that show a similar exploration and the prevalence of PSA consumption in Bogotá
