The development of an orientation guide for music majors at Fort Wayne Bible College

Over the past several years improvement of education in all fields of study has resulted in the updating of methods and curriculum. Hence, the educational market has been flooded with "new curriculums," "latest teaching methods," "experimental teaching machines," etc. Educational institutions, in an effort to keep up, and even get ahead of this forward movement, have continually refined and added to programs that have already been in existence. In the rush to keep on top of expanding needs and demands, there has been a general trend of adding a requirement here, or increasing the number of hours there, and in general of becoming top heavy in organizational and curricular programs, while this problem is evident throughout higher education, it is certainly in evidence within departments of music. The result is often one of concern and bewilderment on the part of the music major. The problem existed at Fort Wayne Bible College, and had been the source of frustration for both the music faculty and students.The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive orientation guide that would help the prospective music major at Fort Wayne Bible College understand what is expected of him while a student at the college, what he can expect from the full range of the experiences the college offers to him, and what he should expect of himself.Thesis (M.A.
