The group of these changes is called the Athlete’s Heart. The changes occur on both sides of the heart and depend on several factors including the type of sports practiced, hours of week spent in training, age, sex and even the ethnicity of the athlete in question. Especially in endurance sports athletes who are more subject to a large training load and volume with increased needs for oxygen consumption the changes observed are more marked in the right ventricle when compared to the left ventricle.
