The Divine in Greek Tragedy Eumenides, Orestes and Bacchae

But when those choices oscillate between the bad and the worst, the human capacity for resolution weakens profoundly. This dramatic situation reveals the great irony that the tragic hero faced in the context of the 5th century BC, and highlights, in turn, the theme of destiny for man of that period.If there is a human decision in the midst of a certain situation, there will be gods who will engineer your destiny; and the whole dialectic between these two disparate universes ends up constantly returning to questions of a private and private nature. The tragedians Aeschylus and Euripides seek to present, through their plays, the vicissitudes of men and their relationship with the divine, inserted in an Athens that possesses diverse political, social and economic transformations. The works end up reflecting a democracy on the rise in the Aeschylean era in a context of decline in the Euripidean conjuncture.The present work will seek to develop a better understanding about the presence of the divine in the tragedies Eumenides, Orestes and Bacchae, being the exposition made from chronological aspects in order to understand the temporal development of the relationship of the Greek man with the gods, in addition to understand if there is a departure from divine dependence or if this relationship, based on the aforementioned pieces, demonstrates crossing time and space.A liberdade sempre foi um motivador na história da humanidade; considerada uma grande conquista, ser livre é poder fazer as suas próprias escolhas sem interferências externas. Mas quando essas escolhas oscilam entre o ruim e o pior, a capacidade humana de resolução se enfraquece profundamente. Essa situação dramática revela a grande ironia com que o herói trágico se deparava no contexto do século V a.C., e ressalta, por sua vez, a temática do destino para o homem daquele período.Se há decisão humana em meio a uma determinada situação, há também deuses a engendrarem o seu destino; e toda a dialética entre esses dois universos tão díspares acaba por retomar constantemente questões de cunho particular e específico. Os tragediógrafos Ésquilo e Eurípides buscam apresentar, através de suas peças, as vicissitudes dos homens e sua relação com o divino, inseridos em uma Atenas que vai sofrendo diversas transformações políticas, socias e econômicas. As obras acabam por refletir uma democracia em pura ascensão na época esquiliana, que evolui para um contexto de declínio na conjuntura euripidiana.O presente trabalho buscará desenvolver uma reflexão acerca da presença do divino nas tragédias Euménides, Orestes e Bacantes, sendo a exposição feita de acordo com um critério cronológico. Pretende-se assim entender o desenvolvimento temporal da relação do homem grego com os deuses, além de compreender se há afastamento da dependência divina ou se esta relação, tendo como base as peças citadas, demonstra atravessar tempo e espaço
