peer reviewed[en] BACKGROUND: Sonography and fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNA-B) have been approved as method of choice in diagnosis of malignant thyroid nodules. Unnecessary FNA-B not only is invasive and costly but also results in second biopsy or unnecessary surgery.
