This thesis outlines the theory and design of parallel coupled line resonator filters fabricated using a microstrip topology. The main focus of this thesis is to develop a practical understanding of the theory involved in the design of these types of filters. This theory is put into practice by designing, fabricating, and testing several filters. The measured results are analyzed to determine the validity of the design process as compared to the expected results. Variations to the standard parallel coupled line resonator design are also explored and analyzed. Specifically, the hairpin-line variation is investigated.
