International audienceThis paper deals with the experimental validation of a nonlinear, deterministic wave prediction method using horizontal velocity profiles measured upstream the prediction zone. Based on irregular long-crested waves, the experiments aim at validating the possibility of reconstructing an instantaneous horizontal velocity profile from vertical velocities measured with ADCP, as well as assessing the quality of the prediction obtained with the method considered. The article presents the experimental protocol and the post-processing choices, then the results on horizontal velocity reconstruction and on the predicted sea surface elevation.
