International audienceThis article introduces the six articles of this special issue, which examines fieldwork relationships through the prism of ethnoracial categorizations assigned to researchers. Drawing a parallel between departures from Western universities for field studies and mobilities/migrations from the “North” to the “South” – which are less analyzed in social sciences – underlines the importance of ethnoracial categorizations in the context of scientific reflexivity. In particular, broadening the study of whiteness by taking into account its plural social definitions in the “North” and in the “South” strengthens epistemological analyzes through fieldwork relationships.
