Background: empathy is a key element of patient-physician communication which positively influences patients' health. The decline in empathy at the beginning of the practical phase of the training has been described as a concern. Specific interventions targeted at increasing medical student’s empathy are developed to remedy this decline. Purpose: this longitudinal study is designed to evaluate the evolution of 4th year French medical students' empathy after a diversified training, including theorical class, Balint groups, role plays and OSCE.
