INTRODUCTION: Urinary retention in the acute phase of a spinal cord injury (SCI) requires bladder drainage (BD). International scientific societies recommend early implementation of intermittent catheterisation (IC) to prevent lower urological complications, preserve fertility, the urological future of the patient and improve its quality of life.
