Through the numerous applications of optical tweezers, the development of vacuum levitated particles has known an active research activity over the last few years. The weak coupling to the environment then provides a unique platform to study fundamental interactions, ultrasensitive force and torque sensing, and the effects of gravity on quantum systems. The recent possibility to reach the quantum ground state of nanoparticles by cooling them offers a good system to study the transition between the quantum world and the classical one. A nanoparticle coupled to a two-level system can extend the control on the levitated particle in both the quantum and classical regimes and can benefit to the sensitivity of measurements.
