Palliative care is a new and evolving field of medicine in Serbia. Paediatric palliative care (PPC) in particular is in a very early phase of formal development, as the national agenda for adult palliative care is currently being developed. PPC in Serbia falls short of the IMPaCCT (International Meeting for Palliative Care in Children, Trento) EAPC task force standards outlined in their 2007 report,1 despite basic education being completed in 2013. A co-ordinated, multidisciplinary programme of PPC for children that provides psychosocial and spiritual support as well as symptom management does not exist in Serbia; nor are there any PPC care hospital units or paediatric hospices for children
